| A domain name is the name that you will advertise for people to be able to find your website on the internet. There are different types of domain names. The most common is www.yourname.com (.net or .org) You can research to see if the name you would like is available at Network Solutions.
If you are a Canadian business, you have 2 possible domain names. If your business in incorporated federally you may qualify for a www.yourname.ca name. If you are provincially incorporated business you would qualify for a www.yourname.ab.ca (if in Alberta). To check out the qualifications for these names please go to Internic.ca The other option is to tag on behind another companies domain name. This would be something like http://www.telusplanet.net/public/yourname This is usually the least expensive option and it is the most restrictive. We highly recommend that you make the investment in your own domain name - as long as you maintain the fees you will always have the same address which is important for advertising continuity. Fees are $35.00 US for a .com, .net or .org name per year. You will also have setup charges from your ISP to set up a domain name. This is a one time fee which varies from company to company. |
